CGPA Formula
Your cumulative GPA is calculated by multiplying each semester's GPA by its credit hours, adding those weighted points, and dividing by the total credit hours.
CGPA = Total (Semester GPA × Semester Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours
Example of CGPA Calculation
Suppose a student has:
- Semester 1: GPA 3.00, 15 credit hours
- Semester 2: GPA 3.50, 15 credit hours
Weighted points = (3.00 × 15) + (3.50 × 15) = 97.5
Total credits = 15 + 15 = 30
CGPA = 97.5 ÷ 30 = 3.25
Use the credit hours that your university counts toward your GPA. Some universities use different grading scales or rules.
